Chelsea are celebrating their 120th anniversary with an exhibition at the iconic Saatchi Gallery.
With the 120th anniversary coming up on March 10, the whole month is dedicated to the history of the Blues. The festivities will start at Stamford Bridge during Chelsea’s match against Leicester City on the 9th, but the main event is an open to the public exhibition at the end of the month.
The club will take over London’s Saatchi Gallery between March 22-24 with ‘This Game is What We Make It.’ The exhibition explores Chelsea’s past, present and future with carefully curated collections.
Winners of the Blue Creator Fund – a Chelsea Foundation programme in partnership with VERSUS to support the next generation of underrepresented creatives – will be displayed across two galleries, kicking off the weekend with a private event on March 21.
The five original creations bring Chelsea’s community and culture to life through fashion, film, photography, music and textiles, with Creative Director Nicholas Daley, club representatives, industry friends and collaborators in attendance.
‘The Vault’ will tell the story of Chelsea’s biggest moments over the years through short films and a collection of rarely seen jerseys from the club’s archive.
‘Made in Chelsea’ focuses on the cultural influences that have shaped the Blues. Music and memorabilia from genres and movements close to the club – reggae, Britpop, punk and rude boy – sit alongside imagery from photojournalist and lifelong Chelsea fan John Ingledew.
‘This Game is What We Make It’ will be on view at the Saatchi Gallery for one weekend only from March 22 to March 24.
