Archie Gray won the VERSUS Premier League Young Player of the Year Award at The London Football Awards last night - a first for the Tottenham star, and the first time VERSUS has sponsored the award.
The teenager joined the London club from Leeds last summer, where he notched up 50 games for the Championship club at the age of 17. Since joining Spurs, Gray’s shown his versatility and tenacity whilst having to play in an unfamiliar position as a centre-back due to player injuries. So far this season, he’s already played 35 games for the North London side and continues to show a level of maturity and gameplay beyond his years.
Gray saw off competition from fellow nominees Romain Esse of Crystal Palace, Arsenal duo Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly and Watford’s Rocco Vata.
Reflecting on his award, Gray said: “This season has really helped me grow, both on and off the pitch, and it’s amazing to receive this award in recognition of that. I want to thank everyone that’s been around for me and has voted for me.”
All nominees and winners were selected by a panel of judges made up of ex-players, broadcasters and professionals from across the footballing pyramid. The 29-person judging panel for 2025 included the likes of Bobby Zamora, Jenna Schillaci, Theo Walcott, Jacqui Oatley and Bob Wilson OBE, ex-Arsenal legend and founder of the Willow Foundation.
The London Football Awards, proudly sponsored by MiQ, raised proceeds for Willow, the UK’s only national charity providing Special Days and Specials Treats for seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 years old when they are needed the most.
