Everton are considering making Goodison Park the women’s team’s main stadium once the men’s team moves out at the end of this season.

The men’s side will be relocating to the new Everton Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, leaving Goodison Park empty for the first time in 133 years.

Currently, Everton Women play at Walton Hall Park – a 2,200 capacity ground five miles away from the city centre. With women’s football on the rise in England and the WSL more popular than ever, the small stadium with only 500 seats does nothing to promote the team’s growth and draw in new supporters.

With new owners at the helm making the women’s team a priority, the men’s relocation couldn’t have come at a better time.

Before construction started on Everton Stadium, the club outlined a proposal to the council detailing how Goodison Park could be repurposed for the local community, including social housing, a health centre, offices, retail and more.

If Everton Women do make Goodison Park their home for the foreseeable future, the move is viewed as one that can coexist with the 'Goodison Legacy Project', with the women’s team at the centre of a bubbling community.

More women’s teams around the world have begun playing at their club’s main stadium on a regular basis, with heavyweights like Arsenal and Chelsea leading the charge in England.

A permanent move to Goodison Park for the Toffees would be a first in the WSL, and a welcome change that can only push the game further forward. Here’s to more major relocations in the future.
