Nujum Sports is releasing a set of Ramadan packs for Muslim athletes in preparation for the holy month.

In Ramadan, Muslims fast during daylight hours and these packs are a way for athletes to navigate the physicality of their jobs without missing out on the spirituality of the month.

Each pack includes a travel prayer mat, jars of dates and honey, prayer beads, holy water and an oil-based perfume known as ‘attar’.

This is the fifth consecutive year Nujum has launched these packs to athletes across a number of sports including football. In 2023, the company distributed 300 packs across five countries. But this year, those numbers have risen to 500 to eight countries, including 125 clubs and organisations across the UK.

The likes of AC Milan’s Yunus Musah, Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucouré and Cardiff City’s Anwar El Ghazi will all receive these special Ramadan packs.

At a time when Ramadan is becoming a more accepted part of a Muslim athlete’s career, initiatives like this further promote the role faith plays in elite level sport. Salute to Nujum for making football a more inclusive space.
