British-Bangladeshi Muay Thai kickboxer Ruqsana Begum changed the game by becoming the only female Muslim national champion in her sport.

Beginning her career at 18, she has quickly established herself both in her sport as well as out of the ring, where she has inspired Muslim women to get into sports.

Alongside this, she also launched her own range of Lycra hijabs - fit for practice or competition - which is also helping more and more Muslim women become interested in the sport.

In the video above, British director David Leon has been enlisted by NOWNESS to provide an intimate look at how the Essex-born athlete has risen to the top of her field.
