This year’s Unity Cup between Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago will take place at Brentford’s GTech Community Stadium.
Last played in 2004, the tournament takes to west London having previously been held at Charlton Athletic’s The Valley. Fixtures will take place between May 27 - 31, immediately after the domestic European season ends.
With crowds of nearly 20,000 expected, the atmosphere is set to bring the best out of the diasporas of each country. Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica are kicking things off, with Nigeria and Ghana playing the day after. The winners of both games will then play in a final, as part of a doubleheader that will also feature a third-place play-off.
All four nations in the 2025 Unity Cup have large diasporas within the UK. The 2021 census stated approximately 271,000 UK citizens identified as Nigerian, while 113,000 identified as Ghanaian. The Jamaican High Commission in London estimates there are around 800,000 people of Jamaican heritage living in the UK. Whilst the Office for National Statistics (ONS) estimates 25,000 people of Trinidad and Tobago heritage live in the UK.
Brentford have multiple players in their squad from competing nations, with Ethan Pinnock and Benjamin Fredrick representing Jamaica and Nigeria respectively. While squads aren’t yet confirmed, we could well see the Bees step out in their usual hive for the competition.
Tickets for the 2025 Unity Cup are available from April 15 at 5pm, with pre-sale registration now open via the competition's website.
