Seven-time Super Bowl Champion and NFL legend Tom Brady has entered a partnership with Knighthead Capital Management LLC to become a minority owner of Birmingham City FC.

On his decision to join Birmingham City, Brady said: “Birmingham City is an iconic club with so much history and passion and to be part of the Blues is a real honour for me.

“BCFC is built on teamwork and determination and I’m excited to work alongside the board, management and players to make our Second City club second to none. I’ve been part of some amazing teams in my day, and I’m looking forward to applying my perspective to create that same success here in Birmingham.”

In comparison to other athletes and celebrities that have joined football club ownership groups, Brady has taken on an active role in the club. He will act as Chairman of a new advisory board, working closely with the club’s board and leadership team.

According to the club, Brady’s new role will see him work alongside the sports science department, using his extensive experience to advise on nutrition, health, and recovery programs. He will also work with the Board and management team to identify new commercial partnership opportunities for the club.

The news comes shortly after Birmingham City announced streetwear brand UNDEFEATED as the club’s new creative directors and shirt sponsor.

American athletes investing in the beautiful game has become increasingly common in recent years, but NFL players are a rare occurrence. Brady’s latest investment could create a new trend, bridging the worlds of football on both sides of the pond.
