Trent Alexander-Arnold leads the last five names nominated for the European Golden Boy Award.

Having just scored his first goal for England in a Man-of-the-Match display at Wembley against the USA, Trent joins the final five nominees for the prestigious award, which has previously been won by the likes of Kylian Mbappé, Paul Pogba and Lionel Messi.

Ajax and Holland center half Matthijs de Ligt is also up for the award after a strong year for club and country, joining fellow compatriot Justin Kluivert, Real Madrid's Brazilian sensation Vinicius Jr. and AC Milan hotshot Patrick Cutrone in the final shortlist.

Many were surprised by Kylian Mbappé not making make the final cut for the award having enjoyed a monumental 2018 involving league titles and the small matter of a World Cup, but having already won the award last year and nominated for the Ballon D'Or, it's understandable why the organizers decided to hand the gong to someone else.
