With the 2022 World Cup now just a few months away, adidas have dropped off the new home and away kits for five of its national teams with some beautiful, bespoke designs for Argentina, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Spain.

Despite all the controversy surrounding the tournament, one thing that isn’t disputed is adidas’ ability to deliver heat when a World Cup rolls around. Adidas have now unveiled the home and away designs for Argentina, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Spain, with each jersey used as a canvas for creativity packed with culturally significant reference points, with graphics inspired by everything from ancient Mexican civilisation to Japan’s origami crow.

While each of the federation jerseys delivered are special in their own right, there are some undisputed highlights in the collection. Mexico’s away jersey is arguably the biggest standout, with the jersey using Mixtec art to summon the fighting spirit of the nation that is signed off with a Quetzalcoat’s serpent body – a representation of humankind’s physical abilities.

Elsewhere, The Three Stripes set the levels with Germany’s home jersey, that features a bold vertical stripe and gold details along with a heat-applied team badge on the centre of the chest, while Argentina’s away kit arrives in purple, with a fire graphic rising up from the bottom of the kit. As anticipated, each kit arrives with the brand's new performance logo, which removes the 'adidas' wording below to offer a more refined looking design altogether.

Speaking about the kits, Jürgen Rank, Senior Design Director Football at adidas, said: "When we design national team kits for tournaments as big as the FIFA World Cup, we always keep in mind that these designs will become a part of legendary footballing history.

"For us it’s crucial first and foremost to create kits that equip the world’s greatest footballing athletes with performance-led apparel that helps them unlock their highest level of play, while at the same time always featuring unique and unforgettably iconic designs that are bold, eye-catching and create a true sense of excitement amongst fans all across the globe.”

Each jersey is crafted from 100% recycled polyester, continuing adidas’ ongoing commitment to help reduce plastic waste. All kits are also made with HEAT.RDY technology that helps regulate player’s body temperature when on the pitch.
