adidas have unveiled the new Predator Freestyle trainer, giving the popular boot range a Samba-esque lifestyle makeover.
Judging by the extreme popularity of adidas Originals trainers in recent years – from colourful Gazelles and Spezials, to the internet’s Samba obsession – transforming football’s favourite boot into a lifestyle shoe makes perfect sense.
The Predator Freestyle is ideal for casual games and wearing beyond the touchline, they share the same comfortable suede and mesh upper as the specialist indoor court Preds. Beneath their lightweight Lightstrike midsole, though, sits a grippy Samba outsole.
Taking direct inspiration from the newly released Predator 24 - marking 30 years since the first Predator was dropped - the Freestyle's distinctive Three Stripes stand out in white against the black upper, with 'Predator' and 'Est. 1994' appearing in bright, neon orange on both sides of the heel.
Despite the nostalgic return of the Predator’s tongue, the Freestyle doesn't feature the iconic fold over design. But who's to say it won't make an appearance in future releases?
The Predator Freestyle is available to purchase via the adidas website and select retailers.
