Netflix is rumoured to be approaching the Premier League’s most prolific strikers for a docuseries dedicated to unpacking the art of goalscoring.
The streaming service wants to give the world unprecedented access to some of the best sharpshooters in the game. It’s time to get the pen and paper out. We’re about to find out what turns the average player into a golden boot winner.
The idea for the hyper-focused production comes after the success of ‘Quarterback’ – an eight-episode series following the lives of three of the NFL’s biggest quarterbacks. A behind-the-scenes look at what makes Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota the league’s best in their position is what made the series so popular to begin with, and the streaming platform is likely to give this Premier League-focused doc the same treatment.
Erling Haaland and Ollie Watkins have reportedly been approached by Netflix already, with Mo Salah also a possibility for the upcoming series.
Netflix has released multiple football documentaries in the past few years, including ‘Beckham’ and ‘Captains of the World’ – a series following different players as they captained their countries at the 2022 World Cup.
With a strikers docuseries potentially landing in 2025, who knows what other positions could get the Hollywood treatment in the future?
