Amazon Prime is taking it back to 1999 next month with a documentary on Manchester United’s historic treble-winning season.
The upcoming release – titled ‘99’ – follows the final stretch of that season, with an inside look at the emotional rollercoaster that culminated in the 1999 UEFA Champions League Final.
Sir Alex Ferguson and his United team dominated domestic football during the 90s but had yet to restore the club to European glory until 1999, doing so in dramatic fashion by becoming the first-ever English club to win the Premier League, FA Cup and UCL in one season.
Club legends such as David Beckham, Dwight Yorke and Paul Scholes feature in the '99' documentary, sharing personal anecdotes and insights about the epic highs, and lows, experienced during that iconic time.
The demand for series and films offering never before seen footage and unmatched insight into some of football’s most iconic figures, seasons and tournaments is at an all-time high.
Amazon Prime's popular 'All or Nothing' series has documented seasons at Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Juventus and more. Most recently, Netflix's docuseries on Manchester City’s treble-winning 22/23 season dropped last month and had timelines in a frenzy.
‘99’ lands on Amazon Prime on 17 May.
