PUMA kicked off New York Fashion Week with a bang by sending futuristic looks down the runway and introducing football lovers to their new must-have accessory.
The German sportswear brand’s ‘Amazing Mostro Show’ centred on the return of the PUMA Mostro trainer and their new partnership with Formula 1. Yet despite the eye-catching shoes, studded helmets and Lewis Hamilton-approved designs inspired by the racetrack, it was football that ultimately stole the show.
Two oversized, football-shaped handbags served as statement pieces on the runway. The first was an all-black classic – the type of bag that can go with anything - paired with a monochromatic lilac look, complete with matching Mostros. Whilst the second metallic silver accessory blinded onlookers along with its matching outfit - one that would fit seamlessly with Rihanna's metallic Fenty x PUMA trainers.
This isn’t the first time footballs have dangled off wrists on the runway, though. Alessandro Michele unveiled the Gucci Tifosa handbag for the luxury brand’s AW18 collection almost six years ago, and again in a red colourway for the Resort 2019 range.
PUMA might’ve just launched the next big trend in the world of accessories with these looks. It won’t be long before repurposed Champions League footballs take over your TikTok feed.
