Copa América is only a few months away, and adidas has finally unveiled the home and away kits for five of the federations competing for gold this summer.
Arriving on the same day as the Euro 2024 selections, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru’s long-awaited jerseys for this summer’s tournament do not disappoint. The Three Stripes paid homage to each country’s history, culture and football heritage, incorporating motifs and symbols into the design of each kit.
Colombia’s passion and energy is brought to life through a phoenix motif, with the home kit representing flame and the dark away mimicking smoke. Chile’s abstract home kit signifies the ‘red tide’ of fans whilst the crisp, white away shirt nods to the snow-capped Andes Mountains that run through the country.
Peru’s home and away jerseys feature a unique graphic detail found on the Peruvian Cajón – a drum commonly used in traditional music.
Argentina’s traditional albiceleste stripes are detailed in gold, paying homage to their recent World Cup win. The away is a classic shade of royal blue that nods to their history as the kings of La Copa as the nation with the most trophies.
Mexico’s kits are by far the best of the bunch, drawing upon folk-art patterns and the country’s flag. The bold home shirt features a feather design, nodding to the eagle on the flag as well as El Tri’s crest. The mint-coloured away kit is decorated in a design inspired by the serpent caught in the eagle’s mouth. Two words. Chef’s kiss.
The kits are now available to purchase from adidas.
