Aston Villa have signed 21-year-old Brentford and England U21 defender Ezri Konsa in a £12 million deal.
The Newham-born baller had been a key target for Villa boss Dean Smith who managed Konsa previously when he was the gaffer of the Bees, where he playedplayed 47 times after a £2.5m move from Charlton in 2018.
His form has seen him increase his value significantly since leaving The Valley last year, and his manager is backing him to push on in the Premier League, "He's a high-potential player who I believe can step up to the Premier League and I'm really looking forward to working with him again," said Smith.
Konsa will link up with the Villa squad on Thursday when they fly to the United States for pre-season training, and opened up on his delight with making the move to the Midlands on social media. Taking to his Twitter, Konsa said, "Proud to sign for @AVFCOfficial. It’s always been a dream to play in the Premier League and this wouldn’t have been possible without God, my family and my friends. Thanks to the fans for the amazing welcome. I can’t wait to get started!"
