Welcome to ‘How We Got Here’, a collaborative zine from VERSUS and The FA celebrating a record breaking, history making, game changing set of FA Cup Finals in 2022.

For the first time ever, the Men’s and Women’s Finals will take place at Wembley on the same weekend, pushing the two biggest days of the football calendar to a whole new level.

This all-new festival of football is another step forward for equality in our game, giving our two biggest cup competitions the same opportunity to flourish on the big stage and inspire the next generation of players and fans. With the Emirates FA Cup celebrating its 150th year in 2022, the time is now to celebrate the past and speculate on what comes next.

‘How We Got Here’ will take you through the major stories of this year’s Emirates FA Cup and Vitality Women’s FA Cup competitions, shine a light on their social and cultural impact, and celebrate the trailblazers who paved this path and made progress possible.

We speak with big game ballers like Demi Stokes, Sophie Ingle and Reece James; induct Rachel Yankey into the VERSUS Hall of Game; celebrate Liverpool's iconic 'Spice Boys' suit from '96 and the importance of FA Cup Final fashion; chat to Wembley rapper GdUp on why the competition means so much to the area; remember the FA Cup legacy of Didier Drogba; uncover some iconic FA Cup Lost Files, and so much more.

Let the games begin.
