Wales Bonner and adidas Originals have just unveiled a closer look at their upcoming collaborative footwear ahead of its official release later this week.
First glimpsed in the former's “Black Sunlight” Fall/Winter 2021 collection lookbook that was unveiled at the end of last year, the duo have honed in on the adidas Japan silhouette to rework it into four distinctive colourways.
“Dark Marine/Easy Yellow/Cream White” and “Hazy Yellow/Brown/Dark Brown” both adorn a WB Japan sneaker which feature nylon and plush leather stripes, with a “Cream White/Easy Yellow/Dark Brown” iteration arriving with a clean, crocheted tongue and moccasin border stitching, alongside the suede “Dark Brown/Collegiate Burgundy/Easy Yellow” variation.
The A/W 2021 range concludes a trilogy of collections between the pair, illuminating a world of Caribbean Thought and Black British intellectualism. “Black Sunlight” pays homage to the scholars, poets and artists from the Caribbean, India, and West Africa whose work and writings advanced postcolonial discourse in the UK and across the globe.
The adidas Originals by Wales Bonner FW21 footwear is set to drop on February 18 and will be available via the adidas webstore.
