Ajax midfielder Abdelhak "Appie" Nouri has awoken from his coma.

The Dutch midfielder made headlines around the world last year when he collapsed during a game in July 2017, suffering a cardiac attack, which left him with severe brain damage.

More than one year after the incident, Nouri's family have revealed that the 21-year-old woke from his coma on August 5th and is starting communicate with his family.

According to reports, Nouri is communicating with movement of his mouth and eyebrows and his neurological condition is much improved than where it was months ago.
