adidas and Ajax have released their home shirt for the 23/24 season and it’s a nod to classic Dutch detailing.
Holland’s most successful football club very rarely stray from their iconic, block red and white home strip, and although this year’s iteration does once again follow the traditional design, it’s taking things back to the 70s courtesy of its centralised crest.
The club have always taken great pride in the fact that their home jerseys are one of the least altered in the world, and the return of a centralised badge epitomises that.
The Ajax crest represents the Greek mythological hero of the same name – drawn using 11 lines to represent the team’s Starting XI – and demonstrates the club’s prowess and power on the pitch, a motif that was first introduced in the 1920s.
Along with the crest, Amsterdam’s iconic St Andrew’s crosses also feature centrally – as well as vertically on the shirt’s collar – alongside the club’s Ziggo sponsor.
The new home kit is available now online via Ajax as well as adidas.
