Djibril Cissé turned heads this weekend at Paris Fashion Week as he walked the runway for Y-3.
Born from a collaboration between Japanese designer Yohiji Yamamota and adidas 23 years ago, Y-3 has been pioneering in its approach to athleisure since.
Former Liverpool and France star Cissé, joined the likes of pro skater Marcos Montoya and one of the most successful WNBA players of all time, Candace Parker, to front the brand’s FW 2025 collection.
Cissé donned an oversized black two-piece suit paired with black adidas combat boots, but it was his orange puffer that gave serious touchline drip feels. The almost-ankle-length hooded jacket took inspiration from the Japanese art technique Suiboku-ga, represented in the ink-like orange and black blotches printed all over the outerwear piece.
The Champions League winner was also spotted sitting front row at KidSuper – wearing the label’s latest range in partnership with Bape – as well as at Willy Chavarria’s debut show.
Although it may seem like worlds of football and fashion are becoming increasingly entwined, with footballers regularly spotted at fashion weeks or featuring in campaigns for the likes of Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Dior, this wouldn't be possible without individuals like Cissé.
The forefather of football-fashion is once again showing the world he's still capable of dropping showcases off the pitch just as much as he was on it.
