With Wiley's 'Eskiboy' autobiography currently sitting pretty on shelves, long time friend and fellow Roll Deep crew member, DJ Target announces 'Grime Kids,' a book of his own, chronicling the early days of the scene.
A foundational character within the scene, Target's perspective is one of founding father and pioneer and he took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to break the news.
DJ Target said: "I've seen grime music go from something we created as inner city kids to a global phenomenon. It's time for that story to be told. I am going to tell the story from my perspective. From jungle and UK garage's influences to Sidewinder, Pirate Radio...to festivals, and mainstream success. It's been a 15 year journey for grime that I'm proud to have been a part of thus far.
I'm Excited to announce that my book 'GRIME KIDS' will be released in June 2018. ???????????

A blurb of the book reads: "DJ Target grew up in Bow under the shadow of Canary Wharf, with money looming close on the skyline. The 'Godfather of Grime' Wiley and Dizzee Rascal first met each other in his bedroom. They were all just grime kids on the block back then, and didn't realise they were to become pioneers of an international music revolution."
Contributing a great chapter to 'Eskiboy,' it appears the angle of 'Grime Kids' will be a more wide reaching look at the life and times of those pivotal to the scenes.
'Grime Kids' is out June 2017 published by Trapeze Books. You can now pre-order it here.
