London-based esports organisation Tundra Esports and P Money have just announced Virgil Van Dijk as the gaming outfit's new ambassador and shareholder.
The Liverpool and Netherlands baller has become the new ambassador and shareholder at Tundra, which boasts Europe’s number-one ranked Dota 2 team, the reigning Fortnite Champion Series winners and teams in FIFA, game that Van Dijk has played throughout his life.
Virgil will use his role as ambassador and shareholder to develop Tundra Esports’ business goals, nurture new talent and develop the brand's performance.
To celebrate Van Dijk joining the team, UK grime MC and fellow Tundra ambassador P Money dropped the world’s “first official grime-gaming song”, “OUTPLAYED” – which merges the worlds of music, gaming and sport together in the announcement visual, which you can watch above.
Following PSG linking up with Fortnite and Man City dropping a first look at their 22/23 football kit on Roblox, Van Dijk joins a wave of contemporary ballers such as Sergio Agüero and Gareth Bale in working with Esports brands, with David Beckham famously invested in Tundra’s London rival Guild Esports.
Van Dijk said he was excited to finally enter the world of esports, adding: “Tundra Esports is one of the fastest growing esports organisations in the world, and they are moving in a very exciting direction. They have built up a tremendous reputation when it comes to player well-being within a winning culture which is something that really resonates with me. I’m excited for the future”.
