After being teased by several Naija stats earlier this month, Nike and Nigeria’s highly-anticipated kit of the year contender is finally available to cop.
Two years after changing the face of kit culture forever with the country’s 2018 release, Nigeria’s wavey collection for 2020 is headlined by an all-new home kit that that fuses the traditional aesthetic of an agbada robe with contemporary football and street style influences.
The jersey’s colourful angular pattern was hand drawn and is symbolic of Nigerian culture’s love of family and nobility. Nigeria’s crest is placed centrally on the chest with a Swoosh underneath it.
The player names and numbers integrate the eagle feather into the application, while “Naija” appears inside the neck of jersey and on the back of the socks in a new typeface. The ultra-clean away kit is inspired by Onaism, a traditional artistic movement central to Nigerian design and craft represented in the trim details.
A distorted eagle feather design features prominently in the fabric, while a green and white chevron design highlights the V-neck collar.
You can finally cop the kit now via Nike alongside all the pieces from the wider lifestyle collection, including a series of Naija-styled sneaker drops. Get a closer look at the range below.
