Chelsea paid homage to Reece James during their inaugural U15s tournament, renaming the Cup after one of their most successful academy graduates.

The first-ever Reece James Cup saw Chelsea’s youth side host Strasbourg, Rangers and Feyenoord at Cobham for an exciting weekend of football and a touching tribute to James.

Celebrating the Blues’ captain’s journey at the club, which started at the age of six, the tournament kicked off with an opening ceremony. James presented the trophy now inscribed with his name on it and watched on as the next generation of Chelsea stars battled it out over the two days.

He was joined on the day by Enzo Maresca and eight teammates, including fellow Cobham graduates Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah.

Chelsea’s U15s ended the tournament undefeated, lifting the trophy on home turf and following in the footsteps of one of the academy’s biggest role models.

With the Reece James Cup set to be an annual affair, here’s to more young ballers coming through the ranks and showing out on the biggest stage.
