As Emma Hayes’ historic tenure at Chelsea comes to a close, the club has honoured her with a permanent tribute amongst other Blues legends outside Stamford Bridge’s Shed End.
Hayes leaves the London club after 12 years, with 15 trophies to her name and an undisputed place in the WSL history books. With the major role she played in orchestrating Chelsea’s incredible success over the years, it was only right the club immortalise her reign with her own installation on the Shed End’s wall of legend – the first woman to receive the honour.
With Hayes blazing yet another trail as the only woman to grace the Shed End wall, the path is wide open for countless Chelsea Women legends to get their flowers and their own fixtures outside the Bridge in the future. Her time at Chelsea may be ending soon, but her influence will live on forever.
The installation was unveiled to Hayes during Chelsea’s 2024 awards evening, following a tribute to the manager’s career with the Blues. Detailing the story of her time at the club, filled with touching quotes and a visual tally of her trophies, the permanent fixture will ensure that Hayes’ legacy lives on for generations to come.
