As Conor McGregor prepares to swap the Octagon for the boxing ring on August 26th, he's opened up on the boxers that inspire him.

In a media scrum with dozens of journalists ahead of his mega-money fight with Floyd Mayweather at the end of this month, McGregor was asked about who his favourite fighters were, perhaps giving an insight into the attitude we'll see McGregor take into the ring on August 26th.

McGregor said: "I like Roy Jones a lot and have been a big fan of his. Muhammad Ali, of course. There's been a lot throughout history. Prince Naseem is another one. Currently today I like Rigondeaux. Lomachenko is another one. I think them two should fight. Canelo and Golovkin, I'm not too much of a fan of either of those - although they are supposedly up there I don't really think they are. Floyd's young kid, Gervonta Davis, is a strong kid, maybe one or two fights and I can see him in the mix there.

I like Chris Eubank Senior, Junior's not bad as well, he's got some good workrate and he follows in his father's footsteps. I always liked Eubank [Sr], he was an unusual character, he moved in certain ways and he had good, solid power in his shots."

Eubank Sr held the WBO super-middleweight world title in the 90s.

Much like McGregor, Eubank became famed for his antics outside of his fights as much of his world class abilities during them.

Chris Eubank's son – Chris Eubank Jr – made his in-ring debut in 2011 and currently holds the IBO super-middleweight title.
