FIFA 19 could be the game's best iteration ever in light of the news that Konami have ended their partnership with the Champions League.

In an official statement, both companies stated that the "very successful and fruitful" 10-year partnership will finish once the Champions League wraps up after the final on May 19.

This opens the door for the world's biggest football game to link up with the world's biggest club tournament, in a move that would cement its status as the top don in the rivalry between the two franchises.

Whilst this is merely speculation at this stage, it would appear to make sense for FIFA to bid for the rights for the Champions League with it's status as the most popular franchise by a considerable distance.
