The Premier League is set to switch from Nike to PUMA for its official match ball in 2025, after the league’s current contract with the American sportswear giant expires, according to a report by The Athletic.
The 2024/25 season will mark the end of a 25-year partnership between Nike and the Premier League – the Nike Geo Merlin was the league’s first official match ball in 2000. PUMA’s first official match ball for the English top-flight will debut in the 2025/26 season.
PUMA currently provides match balls for Serie A, La Liga, and the EFL, and starting in the 2023/24 season, the brand will provide the Scottish Women’s Premier League with its first bespoke match ball.
In addition to being the league’s current match ball provider, Nike also supplies kit and equipment for the Premier League’s youth development and international events as part of the contract. The extent of PUMA’s new partnership with the league hasn’t been revealed yet, but will likely be announced once the current contract ends.
