Three of the four biggest sports franchises in the world are now football clubs, according to Forbes' annual list of 'The World's Most Valuable Sports Teams.'

Manchester United top the list of football clubs with an estimated net worth of $4.123 billion, Real Madrid are second with a net worth of $4.088 billion and Barcelona are third, with a reported worth of $4.064 billion, who all leapfrog the New York Yankees (5th) to second, third and fourth on the overall list respectively.

They lead a contingent of seven European football clubs among the 50 most valuable teams in world sport, with Bayern Munich 13th ($3.063 billion,) Manchester City in 30th ($2.474 billion,) and Arsenal 39th ($2.238 billion) pipping Chelsea, who are 46th on the list ($2.062 billion.)
