Parisian-born artist and designer Émile-Samory Fofana has linked up with adidas to create a “functional football qamis” in his first collaboration with the Three Stripes.

The all-white qamis with gold adidas accents has been designed to provide ultimate comfort from the pitch to the prayer mat, and has been in production for the last 12 months.

While this is the first official release of its kind alongside a sportswear manufacturer, Fofana has previously dropped bootleg football qamis. In 2022, he reworked kits from clubs including Chelsea and PSG to resemble full-length Islamic dress.

Fofana has spent much of his creative career thus far documenting and celebrating the connection between West Africa and European football, but this project takes his work to a whole new level.

It’s unclear whether the adidas Football qamis will get a general release, but Emile has already revealed the first drop will be for friends and family.
