Nike have just dropped off the most sustainable and lightweight Mercurial Vapor football boot to date – the New Vapor Next Nature.
After first debuted in 1998 by none other than R9, the Mercurial has become one of the most iconic boots of all time, with the game’s fastest players using the ultra-lightweight boot to supercharge their game over the last few decades.
With innovation usually geared around enhancing performance by streamlining and lightening materials, this year’s improvements have created the most sustainable Mercurial boot ever produced.
The Mercurial Vapor Next Nature features a 100% recycled plate and 50% recycled content by weight. The model’s four-layer upper consists of recycled polyester, recycled TPU, manufacturing scraps, and 3D printed Flyprint for the first time. The blend of materials offer a more lightweight and breathable construct that comes complete with water-repellent qualities.
The model features an orange Just Do It print and black tread mark patterns alongside a large Nike Sunburst logo on the medial side. Semi-translucent white layered overlays cover the silhouette, while a threaded Swoosh runs across the laterals. Clear and black studs complete the design of one of the cleanest Mercurial boots we’ve seen in a minute.
