Netflix has confirmed a Vinícius Júnior documentary will be hitting the streaming platform. Netflix’s Spanish social media channels, as well as Vini Jr. himself shared the news in a short video clip.

The Real Madrid forward has become one of the biggest and brightest players in the game in recent years, and his star continues to shine bright. The documentary will focus on his career so far, touching upon the ups and downs of playing at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Documentaries focusing on the personal lives of athletes have become more popular. Amazon’s All or Nothing series has taken viewers behind the scenes at clubs like Manchester City and Arsenal. In the past, Netflix has produced documentaries on Pelé and Nicolas Anelka, detailing their careers as well as their lives off the pitch.

There’s no doubt that Vini’s documentary will include the racist abuse he has dealt with during his time in Spain. At only 22, he has constantly been the target of racist jeers and chants, and has been outspoken about the persistence of racism in football, both on the pitch and in the stands.

The documentary does not have a set release date yet, but the film is expected to be released in 2025.
