Antoine Griezmann was rumoured to be leaving PUMA at the end of the 2023/24 season, and he’s just been spotted playing in a new pair of mystery boots.

The Atlético de Madrid star has been linked to multiple brands in the past few months, from Nike and adidas to Mizuno, but it seems like Decathlon came out on top this time. The French sporting goods retailer owns the brand KIPSTA, and Griezmann will likely be rocking one of their two boot silos when La Liga kicks off this week.

He was spotted in a pair of blacked-out boots during a friendly match against Juventus over the weekend, with no obvious logo in sight for boot watchers to put together the puzzle pieces. However, the boots closely resemble KIPSTA’s CLR boot silo.

Though the deal – which should be made official in the coming weeks – is unconventional for one of the world’s biggest players, Decathlon has been making major moves in football recently. They will be the manufacturers of the Ligue 1 ball this season, and a deal with UEFA for the Europa League and Conference League is set to start in 2025/26.

With Harry Kane signing a lifetime deal with Skechers last year and multiple players ending their contracts with manufacturers in recent years, it looks like the dominance of the big three – Nike, adidas and PUMA – is finally coming to an end. The boot landscape is starting to look exciting again, and it’s time to get into what the rest of the industry’s cooking.
