The WSL and Women’s Championship will make history on the weekend of November 16, with all matches hosted at each club’s main stadium.

This is the first time all fixtures have been held at main stadia across both divisions, with multiple derbies and must-watch matches attracting large crowds for a historic weekend of women’s football.

To encourage higher attendances, WPLL has linked up with Baller FC to host a Ground-Hop Day. The duo are incentivising fans to attend the North London Derby at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the early afternoon before venturing to Fulham for Chelsea and Manchester City’s clash at Stamford Bridge in the evening.

50 free tickets to both matches are up for grabs, giving fans a chance to take part in a one-of-a-kind matchday experience.

In recent years, more women’s sides across the country have been playing matches at their club’s main ground. Arsenal Women announced The Emirates would become the team’s main home earlier this year, hosting the majority of fixtures. Nottingham Forest Women will play all their home matches at The City Ground this season.

Women’s football is growing tremendously, with the WSL achieving record attendance numbers across the league last season. The increase in main stadia fixtures played a large part in that growth.

This weekend of fixtures at each club’s main home is a step in the right direction to grow the game’s profile. Here’s to more historic matchdays in the future, from St. James’ Park all the way to AmEx Stadium.
