The NWSL has expanded its partnership with Tiffany & Co., joining forces with the iconic jewellery brand to give the Shield and regular season MVP trophies a much-needed facelift.
The league’s partnership with the luxury jewellers started last year, and was announced with redesigned Championship trophy and Playoffs MVP award.
With talks beginning at the end of 2023 for Tiffany to update the Shield – the NWSL’s regular season league title – the new silverware has landed just in time for the season’s close. Straying away from the dinner platter-esque look of the old trophy, the new Shield is an award worthy of America’s best.
Taking on the same design codes as the Championship trophy, the Shield features a mix of 24K gold vermeil and sterling silver. A football sits in the centre, surrounded by luminous rings. Taking inspiration from the trophy’s name, the Shield doubles as exactly that – a shield – complete with a handle on the back.
The new MVP trophy imitates the suspended football look of the Championship trophies, with a twisting handle holding up the shiny new hardware.
With four new trophies under the NWSL x Tiffany belt, could bespoke Championship rings be next in line?
