New Balance has released a limited-edition boot pack to celebrate ‘Grey Days,’ using the month of May to pay homage to new and classic expressions of the brand’s signature colour.
New Balance’s affinity for the colour is rooted in footwear history. In the late 1970s, grey became the colour of choice for urban runners, whose white trainers were constantly getting ruined by city living. What started as a necessity slowly morphed into a style choice, with the durability of the grey suede blending seamlessly into lifestyle wear.
Alongside redesigns of classic NB trainer silhouettes, the ‘Grey Day’ celebrations have extended to the football pitch with sleek renditions of New Balance’s boot three boot silhouettes. The 442 Pro boots take on a lifestyle look, almost resembling one of NB’s trainers with dark shades of grey making the brand logo pop against the quilted, light grey upper.
The Tekela Pro boot and the Furon v7 are a more classic expression of NB’s on-pitch take on ‘Grey Days.’ Both boots feature an ombré effect, with a dark grey fading out from top to bottom. A cracked graphic adds depth to the boots’ upper for a unique look.
The first drop of the ‘Grey Days’ collection is available to purchase starting 1 May on the New Balance website, with new designs dropping throughout the month.
