Paris Saint-Germain continues to dominate the fashion x football space with a new capsule collection designed by Esteban Cortázar.
The collection merges Cortázar’s Colombian roots with Parisian chic, resulting in a colourful capsule fit for a holiday in the French Riviera. Incorporating tropical flora and fauna native to Latin America, the collection celebrates not only Latin culture, but also the club’s own connection with the region.
The designer collaborated with Latin American artists and design studios, such as Studio el Guerrero, Popular de Lujo, Sequence, Cheboards, and Rebond to include regional artisanal techniques and embroidery to the pieces. A bright red parrot, a snake, and bright flowers are embroidered around a subtly redesigned PSG badge on sweatshirts, hoodies, joggers, and tees. A printed co-ord takes these motifs further, with the addition of a flaming football and the words ‘Paris’ and ‘Mágico’ filling blank space.
Two standout pieces are a raffia tote bag and an embroidered long-sleeve shirt. The tote bag is embroidered with the same red parrot and flowers as the rest of the collection, surrounding the blue and red of the PSG badge. The long-sleeve is chic with a mandarin collar and two pockets on the chest. On the front, embroidered flames trim the bottom of the shirt, with the word ‘Libertad’ written across the stomach. Above the pockets, a sun and a moon hover with smiling faces. On the back, the Eiffel Tower is complete with palm leaves, and the words ‘Paris Latino’ are embroidered just below.
On the collection, Cortázar said: “After a couple of years in the making, I am so excited to finally launch my collaboration with my friends at PSG. I feel honoured to have been invited to celebrate my roots and Latin heritage in this unexpected way, and with a collection that I call Paris Latino.”
PSG x Esteban Cortázar is available to purchase on the PSG online store.
