Umbro launched its ‘Make New’ upcycling campaign with a fashionable collaboration, but the sportswear brand wants to show that upcycling isn’t limited to just clothes.

For the campaign’s second instalment, Umbro teamed up with home décor brand Tuesday Pickup, who create customised decorative objects and ornaments out of football equipment.

Using a pair of Velocita Alchemist boots, Tuesday Pickup created a one-of-a-kind Velocita vase by using hand-cut panels from the boots' uppers to cover the clay vessel in a unique mosaic pattern. When asked about the process, the home furnishing brand said: “For this project, we wanted to combine two vastly different things."

"We especially liked the contrast between the rough, imperfect panels from the boots and the classic style clay vase. It was also about taking two straightforward items and making something totally new and unexpected.”

Creators can get involved in Umbro's latest project by submitting examples of their own upcycled work to the brand's ‘Make New’ campaign’s website until 15 June.

The best entries will be sent a mystery box of Umbro products with a challenge to create a unique project of their own, with the winner joining the English brand's global influencer team, Diamond FC. Once a member of the squad, they'll receive regular product drops and upcylcing challenges for an entire year.
