Images via IBY Cardiff City Football Club and New Balance have linked up with local streetwear brand IBY for their first-ever collaborative lifestyle jersey. The Championship side teased the recent release earlier this month by plastering the city with CCFC X IBY X NB posters, giving fans a glimpse of the blacked-out Cardiff-inspired design before its official launch date on Saturday, November 18. The jersey comprises an all-black base, complemented by a black button-down collar and silver sleeve cuffs, but it’s the cartographic design that will have heads turning.A map of Cardiff takes centre stage on the front of the jersey in silver, with the River Taff running across the heart of the shirt and the streetwear brand’s logo, ‘IBY’, along the bottom. On the back of the shirt sits a small welsh flag, whilst the New Balance logo and Cardiff City’s club crest both appear in silver on the front. Only 300 shirts will be available to purchase on a first come, first serve basis via the club store on November 18. When asked about the partnership with his hometown club, Ibby Abdi – founder of IBY – told VERSUS: “In 2013 I was on the pitch after we’d been promoted to the Premier League. 10 years later, I’m releasing a football shirt with the club. It’s a full circle moment. “For me, this partnership and my brand, is about showing others the true image of my city. It’s not always easy being from Cardiff, we’re often isolated from the culture scene but I’m trying to show the world we’ve got it too and that this city can represent street culture as good as anywhere else.”From selling tees from the boot of his car during COVID to linking up with one of the most successful non-English clubs in football, Iby is putting Cardiff culture on the map with this release. Take a closer look at the drop below that features Cardiff City forward Ike Ugbo, broadcaster Jason Mohammad and super featherweight World Champion, Joe Cordina .
