The Basement and New Balance hosted the 2024 edition of the Basement Cup over the weekend, shutting down North London with some of the biggest names in fashion and football for another year.

16 mixed-gender teams battled it out at Trent Park Country Club for the second year in a row, trying to clinch the title. With some old faces and a few new ones, this year’s competition saw a new victor take The Basement’s throne.

Alongside the hosts, the competitors included VERSUS, Talk Nice Studios, Shabab Intl, CLINTS, BAPE, Bene Culture, PLACES + FACES and more.

Talk Nice Studios walked off the pitch as winners, beating 2022 champions PLACES + FACES in the final after a nearly undefeated run – only the VERSUS team beat them in the group stage. The prize? An all-expenses paid trip to Berlin to represent the UK against other brands in a European tournament.

Given the teams taking part, the fits were just as fire on the pitch as they were off it, with each team sporting custom New Balance kits to rep their set.

Wingstop was on hand for a quick energy boost, and DJ sets from Tiffany Calver, Just Jane, Raaandy & Rickinzi and Karetorical kept the good vibes going all day long. When the day came to a close, a screening of England’s round of 16 match against Slovakia made sure no one missed out on the Euros action.

A semi-final penalty shootout meant the  VERSUS team missed out on the glory this year, but we go again next summer.
