East London community football club Hackney Wick FC have just dropped their kits for the 2022/23 season, with Netflix show Top Boy becoming the club’s new sponsor, with LABRUM’s Foday Dumbuya in charge of designing both home and away strips.

Founded by Bobby Kasanga in 2015, Hackney Wick FC became the borough’s first ever semi-professional team, with an ethos based on community engagement that takes an active stand against youth violence in London.

The new collaborative jersey sees the trio of East London-based entities join forces, with the globally-renowned Netflix series largely shot near where Hackney-based designer Dumbuya runs Labrum.

Unifying for a club at the heart of the local community., the kits feature LABRUM’s signature zig-zag motif, which inspired by traditional African art, a nod to London’s different mix of cultures interweaving. At the centre of each kit is the unmistakable Top Boy logo, while LABRUM branding can be found on the right sleeve, and Hackney Wick FC’s charity, Grassroots For Good on the left.

Speaking about the collection, Dumbuya said: “Sport has a unique ability to unite communities in a shared goal – to win together. The work that Bobby has done for grassroots football by building Hackney Wick FC really resonates with me. When I was designing the kit I wanted to include a bold graphic that incorporated the rich diversity of Hackney and LABRUM’s celebration of West African heritage. The zig zag is synonymous here. I hope the players will wear the kit with pride.”

Take a look through the images in the slideshow below and cop the kit from Kit Locker now – who state a percentage of sales will go "back into (developing) the beautiful game."
