Sadio Mané and New Balance Football have linked up once more for a fire new Maguum Furon v5 model ahead of Senegal's AFCON campaign this summer.
The boot pays homage to the Premier League Golden Boot winner's home country, with the model's name, 'Maguum', meaning 'Rise' in Wolof, which nods to the ‘Simb of Senegal', an artistic ritual celebrating the transformation of a man into a lion.
The model features a white base with red and yellow accents alongside a lion fir graphic running throughout the striped formation. Mané's number 10 sits above the laces and his name features on the heels of both boots. There's further signature detailing on the inside heel graphic, while the dates of Mané's first cap and goal are shouted out on the model's laces. Check out close up imagery of the model below.
Only 405 pairs will be available, one for each kilometre travelled by Sadio from his hometown Bambaly to the Senegalese capital, Dakar, to attend his first football trials. He would go on to join the Seneglese football academy, where his journey to becoming a Champions League winner began. Speaking about the boot, Mané said, “I’m so proud to have a boot that celebrates my connection to my homeland. New Balance’s design team have done a fantastic job of creating a design that represents my football journey and my Senegalese heritage”.
You can cop the boots exclusively from select retailers and the New Balance web store from June 18.
