German sportswear giant PUMA has redesigned its legendary KING football boot, swapping out kangaroo leather for a new material: K-BETTER.
The new, non-animal based upper has already proven to outperform the KING K-Leather in durability and comfort. And in a continued effort to create more sustainable sportswear options, PUMA have also ensured the upper is made of 20% recycled materials. But the innovation doesn't stop there.
The updated KING includes changes to the outsole, conical studs, and a new lightweight, removable sockliner with NanoGrip technology to provide players with as much control over their movements as possible. In addition, the women’s edition of the boot combines the latest KING technology with instep height and volume measurements, creating a custom fit tailored to women's feet.
According to Peter Stappen, PUMA’s Lead Product Line Manager for Teamsport footwear, the new KING “takes the franchise to the next-level and offers a super-soft upper with optimal stretch resistance for ultimate touch and control benefits.”
Once worn by football legends Pelé, Cruyff, and Maradona, the newest iteration of the KING franchise will be worn by Granit Xhaka, Ingrid Engen, Nabil Fekir and more for its on-pitch debut.
The new boot launches in the PUMA KING supercharge edition and is available to purchase at PUMA stores, specialist football retailers, and the PUMA website.
