Nike London have just introduced The Powerhouse Project, a new initiative dedicated to training and inspiring the next generation of female role models in football.
There is a serious level of underrepresentation of female coaches and referees across the world of football – and from grassroots to the elite level, more needs to be done to ensure more women are offered opportunities to work in the game.
After speaking to people from across the football community, Nike looked at the lack of opportunities in coaching and refereeing education, as well as a lack of opportunities for professional pathways, and decided to create The Powerhouse Project.
Set up with Level 7 Academy, The Powerhouse Project comprises of a three-month-long coach and referee academy which will develop the next generation of female role models in the sport.
Nike and Level 7 will offer a unique experience for 20 new game-changers in the sport, with the aim to catalyse and empower future generations of female participants and allow them to flourish in the world of football.
Nike and The FA have teamed up to offer graduates from the course to do the UEFA B License or their next Referee Qualification, paid for by Nike, as well as offering elite coaching and referee clinics, football match access, professional development workshops and much, much more.
The Poerhouse Project will take place from April – June 2022 at The Hive, London. All applicants must be on or have completed FA Level 2 qualification and must be able to travel to London for 1 contact day per week.
Applications are now open – get it touch to register your interest by emailing the word 'Powerhouse' to info@level7academy.com.
